The Newcastle Jets have been in touch to let us know that Newcastle Jets v Melbourne Victory Liberty A-League match at No.2 Sportsground, Newcastle on Friday 7 January 2022 has been postponed and will no longer be taking place on this date.
A message from the A-Leagues:
The A-Leagues regrets to announce that our Liberty A-League match scheduled for this Friday, 7 December, between the Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory has been postponed due to positive COVID cases within our squad.
The Club can confirm there are multiple people in our women’s football department confirmed who tested positive via either RAT or PCR testing. All players, coaches and staff with positive results are now in isolation and following the NSW Health directives.
The A-Leagues’ and Club’s primary concern is for the health and safety of all players, staff and their families. All positive cases and those close to them are adhering to relevant state government health directives.
The A-Leagues protocols continue to be effective for screening and subsequent PCR testing in detecting the virus and ensuring immediate isolation.
We will continue to work with the A-Leagues on confirming a new schedule for the postponed match as soon as possible.
